Repatriation of South Waziristan displaced people completed: governor

PESHAWAR, 19 May: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has said the repatriation of displaced people of South Waziristan Agency has been completed.

The governor said this during his meeting with a Jirga of Mehsud tribe elders on his visit to South Waziristan on Thursday. On the occasion, the governor on the demand of local elders announced a package of Rs500 million for construction of link roads, clean drinking water and other schemes. The governor said apart from Annual Development Programme, the government has also approved a number of other development projects for FATA in different sectors.

Mr Jhagra said the repatriation of 140,000 families was not an easy task, but the civil and military institutions successfully accomplished this daunting task. He said the federal government is working on development schemes worth billions of rupees in FATA.
