PESHAWAR: The Transgender people from different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday staged demonstration to protest provincial government’s failure to protect them from police excesses.

The protesting eunuchs alleged police of extorting money from them and on refusal they (police) subject them to sever torture and illegal detention.

They claimed that several eunuchs have been killed by the police after they refused to pay them extortion, but the provincial government has taken no notice nor any inquiry was ordered in their killings.

“When we report police highhandedness to its high ups so instead of registering against them they start harassing us,” claimed Arzo, a protesting eunuch.

Talking to Tribal News Network, Arzo said that Alisha and Spogmai were also killed after they refused to pay extortion while dozens of them have received calls for payment of extortion.

The protesters later take out a rally from Peshawar Press Club and culminated outside KP Assembly where they staged a sit-in.
