January 11, 2018

PESHAWAR: The sub-engineers of government departments continued their strike for second consecutive day on Thursday over not getting upgradation.

The protesting sub-engineers said they did not get upgradation despite promises by the provincial government. They said sub-engineers play important role in development of the country and they deserve better job conditions.

They said 930 sub-engineers will continue their strike till 15 January and they will also install protest camps. They said they will stage a sit-in in front of Banigala residence of the PTI chief Imran Khan if their demand was not fulfilled by 15 January.

“Sub-engineers get jobs after competitive exams by the Public Service Commission. They are appointed in Grade-11 and retire in the same grade. On the other hand, matriculate clerks reach Grade-16. We will continue our protest till acceptance of our demand,” Mardan Division Sub-Engineers Association President Abdali Shah told TNN.
