Riots erupts over rape, murder of 7-year old Zainab in Kasur, CJ SC takes notice

KASUR: Riots erupted in Kasur on Wednesday as residents took out to roads to protest police inaction over the alleged rape and murder of a 7-year-old girl who was killed after rape.

According to media reports, two persons were killed due to gunshots after the enraged protesters stormed the deputy commissioner’s office.

The brutal murder of an innocent incited condemnations and sparked outrage throughout the country and especially among the area residents. Zainab’s rape and murder is the 12th such case that occurred in the city over a one-year period.

The police have busted a gang of paedophiles in 2015 that was running a child sex ring that assaulted around 280 children in the city after the issue was raised in media.

The police said that Zainab had gone missing after she left home for a tuition centre near her house last Thursday on Jan 4.

Her parents arrived on Wednesday who were in Saudi Arabia to perform UmrahChief Justice of Supreme Court Mian Saqib Nisar has taken notice of the issue and directed IG Punjab Police to submit a report within 24 hours.

Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa also condemned the heart wrenching murder of a seven year old girl and directed army to help police in finding out the killer.
