BANNU: The people of Ghulam Khan tehsil of North Waziristan Agency on Wednesday organised a Jirga in favour of their demands in Mandati Ziarat area, situated near Bannu.

Participants of the Jirga demanded the government to ensure repatriation of the displaced people from North Waziristan who went to Afghanistan after military operation Zarb-e-Azb. They also called upon the government to restore the financial assistance which has been suspended for the last four months.

The Jirga leader and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) FATA press secretary Malik Ghulam Khan Wazir said the government should fulfil its promises made with the people of North Waziristan. He said they will stage protests in Peshawar and Islamabad if the displaced people were not brought back from Afghanistan and financial assistance was not restored.

The Jirga participants also called upon the local member of the National Assembly to play his role in resolution of the issue.
