PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Polio Eradication Cell has rejected the allegations that it doesn’t give salaries to the employees fixed under the law.

The community health workers had staged a protest demonstration against the Polio Eradication Cell in Peshawar on Wednesday alleging that the government has fixed Rs15,000 minimum salary for them, but the department is giving them only Rs13,000 and they are also performing duties up to 16 hours.

The Emergency Operation Centre Coordinator Atifur Rehman said the community health workers are receiving 17,000 monthly salary and they are performing duties from six to eight hours according to law. He said the health workers are also getting the duty insurance and old-age benefits.
