BUNER, 20 April: People in Nawagai area of Buner on Wednesday staged protest against the land mafia over alleged killing of a person.

The protesters kept the body of the deceased person, Abdur Rahim at Ambela Chowk and chanted slogans against police for failure to take action against the alleged killers. Relatives of the deceased said they had informed station house officer (SHO) of Nawagai police station about death threats hurled by the land mafia people, but he refused to file a report.

District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Irshad Khan reached the spot and told the protesters that main accused, Amin Gul has been arrested and raids are being conducted to arrest two other accused. He also assured to initiate investigation against the SHO and said he will be punished if proven guilty after which the protesters dispersed peacefully.
