PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Department has said over 700,000 applications have been received for 17,000 teaching posts in the province.

The Education Department told Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Atif Khan on Wednesday that most of the applicants are highly educated. The minister was told that even M.Phil and Ph.D people have also applied for teaching posts. It is for the first time in the history of KP that so many applications have been received for teaching posts.

One cause behind so many applications is removal of condition of professional degrees like B.Ed, M.Ed, PTC, CT etc. for teaching posts.
