Opposition members call for civil disobedience against WSSP

PESHAWAR: Members of opposition parties at District Council Peshawar on Tuesday announced civil disobedience against Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar for sending consumers inflated bills and staged a walk out of Council’s setting.

When the setting commenced with Qasim Ali in the chair, members of the district council started criticized WSSP for sending inflated water bills to consumbers and chanted slogans against the department.

They said that they had moved court against the department and asked the consumers not to pay their bills. They also criticized the provincial government for not taking the district government in confidence on Bus Rapid Transit project and said that the whole city was turned into a mess and destroyed its green walkways.

PTI member Gul Bashir also criticized police excesses and said they have no respect for the elected members of district government, adding that he was implicated in false case of aerial firing. The setting was adjourned till tomorrow.
