Three killed, 14 injured in rain related incidents

PESHAWAR:  At least three persons died and 14 others were injured in rain related incidents in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata on Tuesday.

A Frontier Corps (FC) soldier died and another sustained injuries when lightning fell on them in Landikotal, Khyber Agency.

Security sources said the FC personnel were performing duty at Sobay Kandao check post in the night when lightning fell on them. The sources said soldier Waheed died on the spot, while another soldier was injured, who was taken to hospital for treatment.

Two women were killed after a mud slide over them in Dargai area of Kurram Agency. Local residents rescued their bodies.

In Buner, lightning hit a house injuring three persons including two women and were rushed to Daggar Hospital from where they referred to Peshawar due to grievous injuries.

Meanwhile, in Upper Dir a man sustained injuries and several kettles were killed after lightning hit house owned by Muhammad Aslam in Batan Darra area.

Heavy rain continued to lash parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and several areas received hailstorm including Charsadda, Mardan and Peshawar.
