No step that goes against the law shall be taken, says CJP

LAHORE: The Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Saturday said that no step that goes against the law shall be taken.

While speaking at the case hearing at Supreme Court Lahore Registry he ordered to resolve pending Model Town cases in Provincial courts within two weeks.

A two-judge bench headed by Justice Nisar hearing the suo moto case in the SC’s Lahore Registry ordered police to arrest Imran alias Mani within 10 days. The bench also ordered an early resolution of all pending Model Town Cases.

“We are not going against the law. Those who don’t respect the judges will not get any relaxation”, he said while hearing the case.

The hearing case of was also underway in which the Federal Minister for Railway Khuwaja Saad Rafique also appeared before the court.

14 people were killed and over 100 suffered injuries in police action against Pakistan Awami Tehreek workers in Lahore’s Model Town area during an anti-encroachment drive in 2014.
