Man burned to death after truck catches fire in Landi Kotal

LANDI KOTAL, 12 October: A person burned to death and two others were injured when a truck carrying an Afghan refugee family to Afghanistan caught fire here Thursday.

According to the political administration, the truck was on way carrying the family back to Afghanistan when its brakes failed that caused it to hit the side of the mountain and caught fire.

As a result, three persons burned who were rushed to the hospital where doctors declared one as brought dead. Meanwhile, fire engulfed a house in Nihag Darra in Upper Dir reducing furniture and other valuable household items to ashes.

Fire broke out in a house owned by Sahibzada, however, immediate cause of fire could not be ascertained. The owner claimed that Rs0.8 million cash and 10 tola gold burned in the fire apart from furniture.
