KP govt urged to organise sports festivals for disabled

PESHAWAR: Around 400 physically challenged persons participated in different games at a day-long Ability Sports Festival held here at Hayatabad Sports Complex on Wednesday.

At the festival, the players including males and females from parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata were given a chance to exhibit their hidden talent.

Da Pekhawar Zalmi and Fata Zalmi teams played T10 cricket matches, wheelchair table tennis, standing table tennis, badminton matches. The festival was organized by ICRC in collaboration with Peshawar Zalmi Foundation, IM Sciences and Pakistan Red Crescent.

Talking to Tribal News Network, Fata wheelchair team captain Khalid Latif lauded the organisers for organizing the event and urged the government to announce such games in future regularly.

“Such events do away with our prevailing sense of deprivation and encourage us to explore our hidden talents. I urge the government to hold such events every month on district level,” said winner of tablet tennis match.
