PESHAWAR: Engineers working at government departments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have initiated pen down strike over non acceptance of their demands.

The KP Association of Government Engineers president Shakir Habib said they had initiated a token strike in the first phase for acceptance of their genuine demands of time-scale, professional allowance, private practice and stopping promotion of B-Tech degree holders to Grade-17. He said the engineers were wearing black armbands and holding peaceful protest for their demands. However, he said, the government did not pay heed to their genuine demands. He said the government doctors and secretariat officers are already getting all these facilities which have not been provided to engineers.

Adviser to KP Chief Minister for Construction and Works Akbar Ayub has assured the protesting engineers that he will convey their concerns to the chief minister soon. He assured that steps will be taken to address the grievances of engineers.
