Fata people not compensated appropriately for their sacrifices: Sherpao

MARDAN: The Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) chief Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has said uplift projects must be initiated in Fata remove the sense of deprivation of the tribal people.

Addressing a public gathering in Mardan on Sunday, Aftab Sherpao said the people of Fata had not been compensated appropriately for the countless sacrifices in the fight against militancy.

Mr Sherpao said reduction of security check posts and removal of landmines must be ensured in Fata. He lauded the statement of Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa about removal of the checkposts and addressing other core issues.

The QWP chief expressed satisfaction at the extension of the jurisdiction of superior courts to Fata and said that the step was taken with delay, but it would be helpful to mitigate sufferings of the people. He said the process of Fata-KP merger was delayed unnecessarily.

Coming hard on the PTI government in KP, he said it had failed to fulfil its promises. He said the BRT project is a failure.

Mr Sherpao also said justice should be ensured in the killing of Nqeebullah Mehsud and the main accused Rao Anwar should be brought to justice.

He also emphasised the need for good relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan for regional security.
