Embarrassment for govt as citizens collect donations for Charsadda Hospital

Embarrassment for govt as citizens collect donations for Charsadda Hospital
April 14, 2018

CHARSADDA: In an embarrassing situation for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, the people of Charsadda have started collecting donations for repair of the out of order ambulance of the District Headquarters Hospital.

The citizens have set up donations collection point at Farooq Azam Chowk in Charsadda where they are seeking donations from people for repair of the ambulance which will cost Rs100,000. The organisers of this unique protest said they will also buy water coolers for the hospital from the donations. They said the patients visiting the hospital had to suffer due to out of order ambulance and unavailability of cold water in summer.

They said all the collected donations will be handed over to the deputy commissioner. They said the donations collection campaign will continue till improvement of the sorry state of affairs at the hospital.

Taking a jibe at the KP government, they said it seems the repair of ambulance and provision of other facilities is a too big ask for the provincial government, that is why they have decided to collect donations for this purpose.

No official from the hospital administration was immediately available for comment.

Meanwhile, the doctors’ protest at the Charsadda Hospital continued for second day on Saturday.

The Out Patient Department remained locked on Saturday due to which the visiting patients suffered a lot. The doctors initiated strike after protest by the relatives of a child on Friday who died at the hospital due to alleged negligence of doctors.

However the Health Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa instantly responded on social networking website Twitter.

There are always two sides of a story. Out of six ambulances, five are on currenly fucntioning on roads and one under repair. Ongoing issue between a local media person and hospital staff should not be converted in political stands. We wish Health sector remains above those politics, pressures and groups.

In another tweet, the department said that one off road ambulance has also been sent for repair by Nazim Charsadda as reported by MS.
