DI KHAN: Dera Ismail Khan police on Sunday recovered a 14-year old girl who was given in Swara after her brother eloped with woman and married her secretly.

Station House Office Shahjehan said that Abid, brother of the victim 14-year old Muqadas, had married a woman identified as Zarina secretly and against the well of her parents.

To settle the issue between both families, local jirga asked Abid’s father to give his daughter Muqadas in Swara to the 19-year old brother of Zarina. Abid’s parent agreed to the demand and gave their daughter in Swara on Saturday.

The police raided houses of both the families after getting information about the crime and arrested the jirga members, fathers of Zarina and Abid and sent Muqadas back home. Swara is a tribal custom in which a virgin girl is handed over to the opponent group to resolve disputes and blood feuds
