MARDAN: Workers of Awami National Party staged a protest against poor performance of police in Asma rape and murder case on Sunday and misgovernance of the provincial government.

The protesters led by district nazim Himayatullah Mayar chanted slogans against the police. Protests were staged in other cities of the district on call of the district nazim including Rustam, Takhtbhai and Katlang.

Addressing the protesters, the district nazim said that forensic report proved Asma rape but Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MPA Iftikhar Mashwani and Mardan District Police Officer Mian Saeed denied it, to hide their inabilities.

He demanded that MPA and DPO names should also be included in the FIR.

He also criticized the police for registeration of FIR against him for exchanging harsh words with doctors.
