Asma Rani’s ‘murderer’ would change locations in Dubai: DPO Kohat

PESHAWAR: District Police Officer Kohat Abbas Majeed Marwat on Sunday said that the accused killer of Asma Rani had been changing his location in Dubai.

Addressing a news conference here at Malik Saad Sheheed Police Lines, he said that Mujahid Afridi was arrested with help of Dubai police and extradited within three days from Dubai to Pakistan with the help of Interpol.

The Kohat police chief said that Mujahid’s red warrants were issued and Interpol was requested through FIA to arrest him after he escaped to Saudi Arabia. He said that Afridi would be shifted to Kohat for production in a court where the police will request for his 10-day remand.

The police have already arrested Afridi’s facilitators Sadiqullah and Shahzeb and recovered weapon used in the crime along with car used by the prime suspect to flee crime scene.

Asma Rani, a medical student at a medical college in Abbottabad, was shot dead outside her house in Kohat after she refused a marriage proposal of Muhahid Afridi. The Supreme Court has also taken a suo moto notice of her murder and censured KP police for failure to stop Afridi from fleeing abroad.
