First rain of winter lashes parts of KP

PESHAWAR: Parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa received first rain of winter ending a long dry spell and plummeted mercury level.

Besides, rain also lashed parts of Punjab and Gilgit Baltistan as according to director general Met Office, a westerly wave approached upper parts of the country on Tuesday.

Under influence of this weather system, intermittent rain, thunderstorm and snowfall are expected over upper parts of the country from Tuesday to Saturday.

Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda, Swat, Swabi, Islamabad, FATA, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha and Lahore divisions, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir received scattered rain.

Jhelum, Pind Dadan Khan and Sheikhupura are also getting light rain. According to reports, northern parts of the country are receiving light to heavy rain.

There are reports of heavy rains in upper areas of Astore and rain and snowfall in Chitral. Malam Jabba and Swat are also receiving rain.

Isolated light rain and snowfall over the hills is expected over Quetta and Zhob divisions as well Light to moderate snowfall is also expected over the hills of Malakand, Hazara divisions, Galiyat, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.
