MINGORA: Police apprehended three accused over gang-rape of a 13-year-old boy in Mingora early Sunday morning.

The police official of Saidu Sharif Police Station stated that three days earlier father of 13-year-old Inam Umer registered an FIR against three youths for gang-raping his son.

The accused were identified as Waqas, Mehran and Raza Shah who allegedly raped Inam Umer and fled the scene.

A medical report was sent to the hospital to confirm the matter however Sunday morning it was confirmed that it was a rape case.

The police immediately arrested Waqas, Mehran and Raza Shah and shifted them behind bars. However further investigation is under way.

In Pakistan, the rape victims have long been silenced due to cultural taboos. In January, a blood curdling incident where a 6-year-old girl was raped and killed sparked a layer of anger in the country and since then people started talking about the child abuse epidemic.
