January 08, 2017

PARACHINAR, 08 January: The Tori tribesmen have refused to surrender arms to the government and announced to constitute a committee for negotiation with the government and the security forces.

A jirga of the Tori tribe was held here on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, tribal elders said the government had asked the residents of the Kurram agency to surrender their arms, adding it was impossible for the tribesmen to lay their arms as they feared militants’ attacks from the Afghanistan side.

They said that the militants had carried out several attacks from Afghanistan side and if they surrendered their arms, it would be difficult to them to counter militants’ attacks.

Faqir Hussain, a local elder told TNN that the jirga decided to constitute a committee which would hold talks with the security forces and political administration.
