Terror bid on Masjidul Haram in Saudi Arabia foiled

PESHAWAR, 24 June: Saudi Arabia on Friday foiled a major attempt to carry out a terror attack on Masjidul Haram (Grand Mosque) in Makkah.

According to media reports, Saudi Interior Ministry spokesperson Mansour al-Turki said the security forces conducted an operation in Ajyad al-Masafi, Makkah when a suicide attacker, who was hiding in a house, opened fire and later blew himself up causing collapse of the building in which 11 people, including five police personnel, were injured.

No further details were available about the incident.
