Sports festival ‘Bangira’ gets underway in Lower Dir

TIMERGARA, 08 July: The ‘Bangira’ sports festival got underway amid colourful opening ceremony in Lower Dir on Saturday. The sports festival would continue until July 20.
MNA Sahibzada Muhammad Yaqub Khan, Lower Dir Deputy Commissioner Atta-ur-Rehman, local body representatives and local elders attended the inauguration ceremony at Government Higher Secondary School Rehan Pura.
Cricket, hockey, volleyball, football, tug-of-war, martial arts, basketball and other competitions would be held at the sports gala at the Shenghar Lajbuk.
After inaugurating the sports festival, MNA Sahibzada Muhammad Yaqub Khan said that such healthy activities would help to restore peace and provide the people an opportunity to show their skills and be entertained. He said that the sports festival was aimed to promote tourism in the area. “We can fight terrorism by promoting sports,” he added.
District government and Balambut tehsil administration in coordination has organized the sports gala.
