Pak-Afghan Border Will Open Soon: Minister
PESHAWAR, 16 March: Federal Minister for Trade Khurram Dastagir has said the Pak-Afghan border will be opened soon.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Wednesday, the minister said the border crossings at Torkham and Chaman will be opened for trade after further enhancing security measures. He said the security and trade affairs with Afghanistan will have to be treated separately.
Meanwhile, the Awami National Party (ANP) president Asfandyar Wali Khan urged China to play role for defusing tensions between Pakistan and China.
Addressing a rally in Charsadda on Wednesday, the ANP chief said tension between Pakistan and Afghanistan is also damaging China’s interests. He said trade with India continues despite continuous incidents of firing across the Line of Control (LoC), while Pak-Afghan border has been closed for common people.
He said he had written a letter to the prime minister about the profiling and harassment of Pakhtuns in Punjab and sought corrective measures.
