One killed, 17 injured in Afghan forces cross border shelling in Chaman

QUETTA, 5 May: One person was killed and 17 others sustained injuries when Afghan soldiers fired mortar shells on Pakistani check posts on the Chaman border on Friday.

Security sources said the Afghan troops fired mortar shells on Luqman and Jehangir villages on the Pak-Afghan border in Chaman in the morning. The injured include four FC soldiers, three children and one woman. The Pakistani soldiers also retaliated and exchange of fire was continuing till filing of this report.

Emergency was declared in the District Headquarters Hospital as the injured were brought for treatment.

The Bab-e-Dosti border gate in Chaman has been closed after the incident. The security forces have asked the civilian population in the border areas to shift to safer places.
