Laborers Died In Gadani Laid To Rest In Swat
SWAT, 10 January: The laborers died in Gadani shipyard on Monday were laid to rest in their ancestral village in Qalagai area of tehsil Kabal in district Swat on Tuesday.
Earlier, their dead bodies were shifted from Karachi to Peshawar via a PIA flight.
According to details, five labourers Naimat Shah, Muhammad Sabir, Alif Khan, Muhammad Saeed and Saeed Khan were killed and several others injured when fire erupted in the Gadani shipyard when the laborers were busy in dismantling a giant metal ship in Lasbella district on Monday.
According to police, the fire erupted in yard number 60, which belongs to Deewan Rizwan Farooqui, chairman of the Pakistan Ship-Breaking Association.
Police said it had registered FIR of the case and arrested four persons including the owner of the ship.
It merits recalling here that 26 laborers were killed and more than 50 injured when a similar incident had taken place in November last year. As per details, fire had erupted when laborers were busy in dismantling an oil-tanker ship in Gadani shipyard.
