Journalist arrested for sharing objectionable content on social media handed over to FIA
June 30, 2017

QUETTA, 30 June: A journalist from Quetta, who was arrested on charges of sharing objectionable content on social media, has been handed over to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

Zafarullah Achakzai, son of owner of a local newspaper, was arrested from his home one day before Eid. The Balochistan Union of Journalists has termed the arrest of Zafarullah Achakzai illegal.

Khalil Ahmed, the union president, told a foreign channel that the security officials violated the sanctity of the house while arresting the journalist and also threatened his family. He said the union would have no objection had the journalist been arrested under the law.
