ICC hails Misbah, Younis on their splendid careers

PESHAWAR, 16 May: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday congratulated Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan on their splendid international careers which came to an end following Pakistan’s historic victory in Test series against West Indies.
ICC Chief Executive David Richardson said in a statement that Misbah and Younis were part of Pakistan’s most memorable performances which made them popular around the world. He said Misbah took charge of the team at a difficult time and led them to the number one position in the ICC Test rankings. He said Misbah was a true sportsman and role model for which he won the ICC’s Spirit of Cricket Award for 2016.
About Younis, he said he has been one of Pakistan’s finest batsmen. He said Younis was also an able captain who led Pakistan in all three formats of the game with the highlight being victory in the ICC World Twenty20 in England in 2009.
“On behalf of the ICC, I congratulate both these batsmen on their wonderful careers and wish them every success in whatever they pursue in the years to come,” he said.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak also paid tributes to Misbah and Younis and termed them valuable asset for the country. A large number of cricket experts and followers are paying tributes to Misbah and Younis on the mainstream and social media.
