ECP Serves Notices On 10 KP MNAs Over Asset Statements
January 06, 2017

PESHAWAR, 6 January: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for the first time has started accountability of the members of the Parliament and issued notices to 10 members of National Assembly (MNAs) from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over wrong declaration of their assets.

According to media reports, huge discrepancies have been found in the asset statements of MNAs elected from NA-1 to NA-10 on the basis of which they contested the 2013 general elections. The ECP said massive changes have occurred in the assets of these MNAs during the last three years, but no reasons have been given for such an enormous change.

These MNAs will be bound to reply the notices sent by the ECP and in case of failure they will have to appear before the Election Commission in person to explain their position.

The MNAs who have got notices include Ghulam Ahmed Bilour, Hamidul Haq, Sajid Nawaz, Gulzar Khan, Imran Khattak, Siraj Muhammad Khan, Muhammad Gauhar, Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, Amir Haider Hoti and Ali Muhammad Khan.

It is first time that the Election Commission has started sending notices to MNAs over assets statements.
