The Christian community members gathered on Wednesday outside the Peshawar press club and protested against the factory owner for manufacturing footwear having what they called derogatory signs.

They said that the government had been repeatedly asked to take action against the owner of the Faisalabad-based factory, seal its machinery and confiscate all its footwear available in the market, but unfortunately, the government did not take any notice of the incident.

They threatened that if the government did not take action in this regard, they would be compelled to take action by their own and in case of any untoward incident, the responsibility would rest with the government.

They also threatened to start countrywide agitation against the desecration of their religious symbol.

“The cross is a sacred symbol for the Christian community and the members of the community are very much perturbed by production of footwear having cross sign. The government should take action against the concerned factory and probe the matter whether the factory owner deliberately made the symbol or it was a mistake.
