12 killed, 20 injured in car bomb explosion in Quetta

QUETTA, 23 June: At least 12 people including five policemen were killed and 20 others injured after a car bomb went off near the office of Inspector General of Police on Gulshan Road at Shuhda Chowk in Quetta on Friday.
According to initial reports, the bomb was planted in a car, which went off when police officials tried to intercept it near the chowk. The vehicle was reportedly being driven by a suicide attacker who reportedly wanted to target the provincial police chief’s office. When police officials tried to intercept the vehicle, it went off, said police officials. Several vehicles, shops and buildings. The security agencies is investigating the blast.
The injured were moved to Quetta’s Civil Hospital, where an emergency was declared. Security was tightened across the city following the attack.
